APPAMADA

I was wondering if some of you might want to join me in an ecumenical peace process called: "Winter Feast For the Soul". It begins in 3 days/Friday/Jan. 15 and lasts for 40 days (until Feb. 23).

It all began 2 years ago by one woman who was inspired by 3 lines she came across from the 13 century poet & mystic Rumi

“What nine months does for the embryo
Forty early mornings
Will do for your growing awareness”

If you can't do your 40 minutes in the early a.m., then how about sitting in the morning for a bit, then again at night or all at night or whatever combination you wish.

On the web site below please click on the world image-- I found that clicking on anything else didn't take me to the info page-- then you find several links, schedules, and suggestions for a practice (from a Christian standpoint, a Buddhist standpoint, etc.)

First, however, you might want to see this short video:

May our hearts expand in loving kindness,

Appamada is not just the occasional mindful thought or attentive state of mind, it’s actually a commitment to being attentive. It’s more than just a meditative state of mind, it’s more than just being mindful. It has to do with that primary ethical or moral orientation we have in life, with which we bring into being whatever activity we’re engaged in. Whether in formal meditation, in our interactions with other people, in our social concerns, or in our political choices, it’s the energetic cherishing of what we regard as good.
